Heading On A Birthday Trip? What To Know

If you are going out of town because you have a birthday coming up and you plan on being away for days or weeks at a time, there are some things that you want to remember to do. There are a lot of things that may change on your birthday, and some things that you'll have to check into or take into consideration. If you haven't already, you'll want to look into these tasks to see if they have to be completed.

License Renewal

Is this a year that you'll need to have your license renewed? If so, you don't want your license to go out of date when you are on vacation because then you can't use it if you want to prove your identity, have an alcoholic beverage, and more. To make sure that this doesn't become a problem, you'll want to have your license renewed at the DMV in person before you leave, and most locations will print you out a new license that same day. Remember to destroy your old identification.

Vehicle Registration

You don't want to return home to a vehicle that has expired tags or have expired tags while you are driving. This could lead to you getting stopped several times on vacation, and you could get a ticket for the expired tags. Instead, you want to apply for registration renewal in advance, and many states allow you to do this online. Put the proof of registration and the updated insurance information in your vehicle.

Hold Your Mail

You don't want someone to intercept any of your mail, and if you are on social media showing that you are celebrating your birthday far away, someone may target your home. Instead, have your mail held so you don't have to worry about identity theft and other common issues that occur when people steal mail. This can be done online easily.

If you are going away on a special trip for your birthday and you are worried that your license and your plates are going to expire or that you aren't going to get your mail, these are some of the things that you have to get done in advance before you leave. This way, you don't have anything to worry about when you finally take off to enjoy your special day, and everything will be in order, as it should be, when you return home.
